Join us at Paloma Bar for one last dance of CTM 2020.
Downstairs welcomes DJ, producer, and Morphine label boss Rabih Beaini (formerly known as Morphosis); recent No Shade alum Happy New Tears; Brazilian performance artist and Teto Preto frontwoman Laura Diaz; and Coméme affiliate and SHAPE alum Charlotte Bendiks.
Meanwhile, upstairs lineup takes shape with Teto Preto bandmember Zopelar; composer/musician, audiovisual artist, and journalist Peter Kirn of CDM; techno star Nene H, an affiliate of Bedouin and Intrepid Skin; and Secretly Bovine, aka MC Chronic Mouth Breather and DJ Private DJ Tutor (or DJ Meatbatch and Chris Pickersgill).
Zopelar is part of Brazilian multi-disciplinary queer group Teto Preto, best known for their incendiary single "Gasolina" released in 2016. As a solo producer he has been making music for over a decade, crafting acid house and disco, and performing across the world.
Lebanese-born producer and DJ Rabih Beaini (formerly known as Morphosis) specializes in grainy, imaginative analogue techno. In the past year however, his Morphine label has telescoped in on key (often overlooked) voices in avant-garde electronic and outernational music.
Under her given name, Beste Aydin achieved notable acclaim as a classically trained pianist. Yet her latest project, as Nene H, sees her transform into a different creature altogether. Accessing a darker, transcendental state, Nene H creates hypnotising techno. Her mysterious yet powerfully physical sound draws on elements of drone, industrial, psychedelic, dark wave, noise, and more.
Tromsø-based DJ and producer Charlotte Bendiks makes what she proclaims as body music, using house as a structure into which she weaves EBM, Latin grooves, and everything in between. Her DJ sets, which she has been crafting since her early 20s, are known for creating euphoric and sensuous states, reciprocating her audiences’ energy.
Secretly Bovine are MC Chronic Mouth Breather and DJ Private DJ Tutor, aka DJ Meatbatch and Chris Pickersgill. Expect all things silly, outrageous, and plain old stupid. Expect breaks, donks, and excellent mic chat. Bangers only.
Happy New Tears[NL/DE]
Based between Berlin and Rotterdam, Happy New Tears plays machine processed music for the melancholy self. Her DJ sets brim with atmospheric and emotional genre-defying music, immersing listeners in her sonic world.
Laura Diaz is a Brazilian performance artist, best known for her work as part of five-piece act Teto Preto. She also runs queer-inclusive party Mamba Negra and Mamba Records in São Paolo, and is among the most politically vocal artists from the city’s LGBTQIA+ community.
Peter Kirn is a composer/musician, audiovisual artist, and journalist. Classically trained in composition and piano, his music and visuals meld minimalist and experimental dance music influences with a focus on texture and abstraction. He is the editor of Create Digital Music and Create Digital Motion, working extensively with free and open source tools and shared content.
